- 24 theme parks and 420 entertainment
Saudi Arabia‘s leisure market holds significant growth potential with a sea of mega tourism and entertainment developments being announced including setting up of over 24 theme parks and 420 entertainment centres as well as the creation of over 35 entertainment-based venues. A major gathering of the entertainment and leisure industry in the Middle East, SEA will run from May 28 to 30 at Riyadh’s International Convention Centre. The expo comes at a time when KSA’s leisure and entertainment industry has got its biggest endorsement from the Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who plans has set up an Events Investment Fund (EIF) that will see the creation of over 35 entertainment-based venues by the turn of the decade.
- Saudi signs $346mn deal to develop 12 new hotels in the kingdom
Saudi Ministry of Tourism has announced the signing of an agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Tasheed Contracting Company for the development of 12 new hotels across the kingdom. These hotel properties, which are expected to provide 2,500 rooms in total, will be built at a total investment of SR1.3 billion ($346 million), reported SPA, citing a top official.
- Top-tier hospitality projects
Minor Hotels has partnered with Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Development Fund (TDF) to collaboratively develop and manage top-tier hospitality and lifestyle projects in Saudi Arabia. The focus will be on mountain resorts, wellness resorts, and urban hotels. The first project under this partnership will be announced in the second half of this year. This strategic partnership between Minor Hotels and TDF will involve the development of multiple hospitality projects in exclusive regions of Saudi Arabia over the next few years. The development of these hotels and resorts aligns with Saudi Arabia’s National Tourism Strategy and the Saudi Vision 2030. The projects will be located in the targeted tourism destinations specified in the National Tourism Strategy and will be announced soon.
- Jabal Omar receives licence to operate first Address hotel tower
In a statement to the Tadawul stock exchange, the Jabal Omar Development Company (JODC), the developer behind the mixed-use central quarter in the holy city of Makkah, has announced that it has received from the Ministry of Tourism the licence to operate the first tower of the Jabal Omar Address hotels. The first tower will have 742 rooms and suites, 51 of which have been sold off-plan. The Jabal Omar Address Makkah facilities will include two restaurants, a café, meeting rooms, business centre, executive lounges, among others. The development, set to have the highest hanging mosque in the world overlooking the Ka’baa, is comprised of two towers, both of which will have 44 hotel floors.
- AlUla launches 3 luxury hotels, to generate hundreds of new jobs
AlUla, a global heritage destination in north-east Saudi Arabia, has announced plans for three new luxury hotels, all of which highlight its beauty, variety, and rich history. The construction of Sharaan Resort, designed by Jean Nouvel, is inspired by the ancient techniques of the Nabataean inhabitants who crafted their monuments as integral to the local landscape more than 2,000 years ago. The resort will have 53 keys, divided amongst suites, hospitality pavilions and villas built into the mountain of Sharaan Nature Reserve.
